A Timeless Brew of Tradition and Tranquility

For centuries, Kamairicha has quietly graced the world of Japanese green tea, offering a time-honoured alternative to the more familiar steamed sencha. In this tradition, tea leaves are pan-fried, giving birth to a flavour profile distinct to the southern regions of Japan, where small family farms still nurture this craft with care.

Takachiho, a rare single cultivar, was specifically developed for kamairicha. Named after a town in Miyazaki, it unfolds in the cup with a golden hue, subtle astringency, and a gentle sweetness reminiscent of sweet corn and vanilla cake.

From the heart of Miyazaki Sabou Tea Garden, our limited edition Takachiho Kamairicha cold brew brings this legacy to life — crafted by artisans who specialise in the art of kamairicha, oolong, and black tea. The cold brew is steeped in Hokkaido snow mineral water filtered through layers of ore to naturally purify it. This unique water enhances the tea’s fragrance and creates a cleaner, more delicate taste.

Each sip carries the wisdom of generations, nurtured by the hands of farmers who have passed down their expertise through the centuries, making this tea not just a beverage, but a story of place and people. A rare expression of a cherished tradition, waiting to be savoured.
