Ever since the first sip of tea was enjoyed by men, special attention has been given to the vessels that we serve them in. From the practical to the aesthetical reasons, the best tea requires the best tea wares to realise its full potential.

About the Artist

Meet Kim Whye Kee (金怀奇) of Qi Pottery. Part potter, part tea enthusiast, he regularly host tea sessions in his home studios. Sessions with his fellow tea lovers are always fun filled and rewarding, with sharings about how the tea flavour could be enhanced with different teawares.

The pieces he create are almost a reflection of his personality - simple, yet refined; unpretentious and practical. Some of them are even created with decades-old Singapore clay, specially stashed away by his mentor!

His potteries are available for retail in our Odeon 333 and Takashimaya S.C. outlets. Interested parties may enquire with our service team for prices.

Whye Kee’s pottery style spoke to us years back when searching for suitable chawan to whisk our matcha in. In our interactions with him, we discovered that the aesthetics of Whye Kee’s pottery pieces (that we were drawn in by) are reflective of his personality — raw, grounded and soulful.

A champion of different causes, Whye Kee is heavily involved in various community projects. When he is not busy honing his craft or drinking copious amounts of tea, he makes time to do weekly volunteer visits and participate in meaningful events.
